ScrapeHero, Grepsr and PromptCloud alternatives: choosing a managed scraping service

Comparison · Updated November 6, 2026 · 7 min read

The short answer

ScrapeHero, Grepsr and PromptCloud are established managed scraping firms, each reporting more than a decade in business; ScrapeHero publishes prices from $199 per site per month, Grepsr from $100 for one-off jobs, and PromptCloud quotes per project. Whichever you consider, judge them on SLA terms, fix times, schema versioning, monitoring, provenance, pricing transparency and exit terms.

If you are shopping for a managed scraping service, three names come up first: ScrapeHero, Grepsr and PromptCloud. All three report more than a decade in business, and all three will probably do a competent job. The useful questions are how they price, what they commit to in writing, and how they compare with the newer options, including infrastructure vendors’ own managed tiers and smaller services like ours.

Here is a plain comparison using what each vendor publishes as of November 2026, followed by a checklist you can use on any provider, including us.

The established firms

ScrapeHero

ScrapeHero says it has been trusted by Fortune 500 companies and “over 15178 customers” for more than a decade (ScrapeHero). It publishes its prices, as listed in Nov 2026 (ScrapeHero pricing):

  • On Demand: $550 minimum per website per refresh, no subscription, setup included.
  • Business: from $199 per website per month, monthly or weekly refresh, up to 2 sites and 1,000 to 5,000 pages per site, plus a one-time setup fee (amount not listed).
  • Enterprise Basic: $1,500 per month minimum, up to 4 sites, any frequency.
  • Enterprise Premium: $8,000 per month minimum, with dedicated resources.

The pricing FAQ says subscriptions include continuous monitoring for website structure changes, and notes that the listed numbers “are not absolute” and depend on scope.

Grepsr

Grepsr reports more than 14 years in business, 1,500+ enterprise clients and 10 billion+ records per month (Grepsr). Its pricing page lists a Starter Pack for one-time extractions from $100, priced by records rather than requests. Recurring Growth and Enterprise plans are custom-quoted, priced on frequency and volume, and come with an account manager. All plans deliver CSV, JSON, Parquet or XML (Grepsr pricing). The pricing page does not list SLA terms.

PromptCloud

PromptCloud describes 14+ years of enterprise expertise and 100+ Fortune 500 partners on its homepage (PromptCloud). It publishes no fixed tiers. Price depends on the number of sources, volume, crawl frequency, anti-bot complexity, delivery format and schema complexity. Delivery is via API, S3, FTP or webhook. Its FAQ states a target that “most tier-1 source issues are resolved within four hours of detection,” and its process includes a sample delivery before full activation (PromptCloud pricing).

Other managed options worth knowing

Infrastructure vendors now sell managed feeds too:

  • Zyte Data: a custom feed from a single source “typically starts around $500 a month,” with about $200 for each additional source. The schema is agreed up front and held on every delivery, and Zyte quotes a sample within a day (Zyte Data).
  • Bright Data managed services: $1,000 monthly minimum, $500 one-time setup per standard scraper and $4 per 1,000 requests, with delivery as JSON, NDJSON or CSV via webhook or API (Bright Data).

Our platforms comparison covers their self-serve products.

Where we fit, honestly

We are a small, international managed web-data service. Our pipelines are built and repaired by AI agents, and an engineer plus a QA gate check what ships. Our feeds start at $600 per source per month for weekly refresh, and daily refresh with an SLA starts at $1,000 (pricing).

The established firms have longer track records and far more references than we do. We have no client case studies or logos to show you. Our public proof is Nomad Watch, a dataset we run ourselves on the same pipeline: about 3,169 city records, 6,794 embassies and 3,625 tax treaties, maintained through 7,068 agent runs between 9 October and 6 November 2026. Every run passes a deterministic lint gate and a sampled cross-model judge check before landing as a reviewable pull request.

We are also not the cheapest. ScrapeHero’s Business plan and Zyte Data both list lower entry prices than ours.

What we offer instead: a source URL and timestamp on every value, delivery through a hosted MCP server so your own agents can query the data, and public prices for every tier. Whether that matters more than a long reference list depends on your use case.

A vendor-neutral checklist for any managed scraping provider

Use this on every shortlisted vendor, us included. Ask for answers in writing.

Area What to ask A good answer looks like
SLA What exactly is guaranteed: delivery time, completeness, accuracy? What happens if it is missed? Named metrics, measurement method, and credits or remedies
Fix times How fast is a broken source detected, and how fast is it fixed? Does it differ by source? Separate detection and repair targets, stated per tier
Schema versioning Is the schema a contract? How are changes announced? Versioned schema, change log, advance notice before breaking changes
Monitoring What triggers an alert: row counts, null rates, value ranges, layout changes? Who sees it? Automated checks on every run, alerts you can also receive
Delivery formats Which formats and destinations? Full snapshots or only changes? Your format and destination, with snapshots and deltas both available
Provenance Can every value be traced to a source URL and collection time? Per-record or per-value source and timestamp, plus run logs
Pricing transparency What are setup fees, overage rules and the cost of adding a field or source? Written rate card for changes, no surprise minimums
Exit and data ownership Who owns the data? Can you keep it after cancelling? What gets handed over? You own delivered data, notice period stated, source list and schema documentation handed over

Three more questions that separate vendors quickly:

  1. Will you deliver a sample on my real sources before I sign? Several vendors do, and a sample shows coverage gaps faster than a demo.
  2. How do you access sources that block bots? Ask for an operational answer: which methods, what happens when access fails, and how you are told. Our AI Crawler Access Index found that 99 of 689 responding homepages in the Tranco top 1,000 (14.4%) returned a 403 to a single plain request on 6 November 2026, so this comes up often.
  3. Who reviews the output before I get it? A person, an automated gate, both, or nobody?

Our data provenance checklist goes deeper on the traceability questions.

When to choose them instead of us

  • You need references. If procurement requires named customers in your industry, ScrapeHero, Grepsr and PromptCloud can supply them. We cannot yet.
  • Price matters most for simple sites. ScrapeHero’s Business plan at $199 per site per month is cheaper than our weekly feed for small, basic sources.
  • You need very high volume or a dedicated team. ScrapeHero’s Enterprise Premium plan includes dedicated resources, and PromptCloud reports scraping more than 3 billion pages a month.
  • You want an infrastructure vendor’s managed tier. Zyte Data runs access through Zyte’s own API, and Bright Data’s managed service sits on its own platform, so there is one vendor end to end.
  • Security certification is a hard requirement. PromptCloud and Zyte both state ISO 27001 certification on their pages.
  • It is a one-off extraction. Grepsr’s Starter Pack or ScrapeHero’s On Demand plan fits better than any subscription.

If none of those apply, and per-value provenance, agent delivery or published pricing matter to you, we are worth a sample.

Try us on your own sources

The fastest way to compare is to run the same brief past two or three providers. Our managed data feeds are built for teams that want a monitored feed with the source on every value. Send your sources and fields through the contact page and you will get a free 100-row sample within 2 business days, with written answers to every checklist item above.

Questions we get

Something else? Ask us directly.

How much does a managed scraping service cost?

As listed in Nov 2026, ScrapeHero starts at $199 per site per month, Zyte Data at around $500 per source per month, Bright Data's managed tier at a $1,000 monthly minimum, and our feeds at $600 per source per month. Grepsr and PromptCloud quote recurring work individually.

Is Scraping Agency more established than ScrapeHero, Grepsr or PromptCloud?

No. Each of those firms reports more than a decade in business and a large client base. We are a small, newer service with no client case studies yet; our public proof is the Nomad Watch dataset we run on the same pipeline.

What should a managed scraping contract include?

A defined SLA with fix-time targets, a versioned schema with change notice, monitoring and alerting rules, agreed delivery formats, source and timestamp provenance, clear pricing for setup and scope changes, and exit terms covering data ownership and handover.

Who owns the data from a managed scraping service?

It depends on the contract, so ask before signing. You should own the delivered data, keep it after cancellation, and know whether extractor code or source lists are handed over if you leave.

Should I ask for a sample before signing?

Yes. PromptCloud, Zyte and we all offer a sample before full activation. A sample on your real sources shows field coverage and data quality better than any sales call.

Tell us what you need to track.

You'll get a sample and an honest answer within 2 business days, even if that answer is “use an agent for this, it's cheaper”.
